American Quilting Magazines to Share

Just take a look at the huge pile of American quilting magazines kindly sent to us by Connie Barwick (who writes the Cross Stitch section of About.com) and her sister-in-law Jane (who’s the quilter). Thank you both so much! It’s very much appreciated, and very definitely going to be enjoyed.

quilting magazines

Quilting magazines!

The magazines arrived just before Christmas, so no prizes for guessing what Marion has been reading… They’ll be brought to tomorrow’s meeting to begin circulation amongst everyone.

If you’ve got any European (or non-UK/USA) cross stitch, embroidery or quilting magazines you don’t want any more, please let Marion have these and she’ll post them on to Connie.

Monday 18th Meeting: Shrinking Fabric

The thaw having happened and no new snow being predicted, Monday’s meeting is on (and, hopefully, also the heating!). There’ll be a small piece for everyone of the magic shrinking fabric Jacquie Harvey sent us, so put your thinking caps on, along with your warmest jumper.

Shrinking fabric that works with steam

Top: After sewing, shrinking fabric showing. Bottom: After shrinking, 'real' fabric showing. Just add steam ... and the fabric shrinks as you watch, gathering up the piece it's sewn onto.
